The Junior School takes boys and girls from the ages of 4-11, with a two form entry each year and classes of 12-20 pupils on average. The standards we aim to achieve are summed up by: 'God first, others second, self last', our School Motto. We work in a firm and friendly atmosphere believing that pupils need close direction to reach the best standard each one can attain. However, iniative and a chance to take part are both encouraged, in class discussions, drama, school essemblies, prefects' systems, various clubs and school journeys. A full range of subjects including Science, Computing, French, Music and the other traditional subjects is taught, with emphasis in the early years on English and Maths. An Art and Technology Wing (opened 1991) gives full scope for art, science, music, woodwork, craft, design and technology in modern surroundings and with new equipment. Soccer, athletics, cricket, hockey, cross-country, swimming are afforded an important place with excellent facilities on nearby grounds, and with matches played against other schools at all levels. Accredited by the Independent Schools' Joint Council.
Many boys and girls progress into the Preparatory Department from our mixed Nursery, which has recently moved into a new suite of rooms and has been fully re-equipped.
